Bible verses about
Time

“For everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven” (Ecclesiastes 3:1 WEB). God is omnipotent and eternal, but every human being lives with the knowledge that our days are numbered.

While it is true that those who have accepted Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross look forward to life eternal, until He comes again, we have only the short time allotted us on earth to spread the Good News about God’s kingdom.

Jesus is timeless

Hebrews 13:8

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

God makes everything beautiful and His timing is perfect

Ecclesiastes 3:11

He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in their hearts, yet so that man can’t find out the work that God has done from the beginning even to the end.

Humanity is not expected to understand God’s timing

Acts 1:7

He said to them, “It isn’t for you to know times or seasons which the Father has set within his own authority.”

God is eternal and rules over Time

Daniel 2:20-21

Daniel answered, “Blessed be the name of God forever and ever; for wisdom and might are his. He changes the times and the seasons. He removes kings and sets up kings. He gives wisdom to the wise, and knowledge to those who have understanding.”

God timing is a mystery to humanity

1 Thessalonians 5:1-2

But concerning the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need that anything be written to you. For you yourselves know well that the day of the Lord comes like a thief in the night.

Following God’s law is a way to extend my time on earth

Deuteronomy 32:46-47

He said to them, “Set your heart to all the words which I testify to you today, which you shall command your children to observe to do, all the words of this law. For it is no vain thing for you, because it is your life, and through this thing you shall prolong your days in the land, where you go over the Jordan to possess it.”

Now is the time to call on God and let Him help and save me

2 Corinthians 6:2

For he says, “At an acceptable time I listened to you, in a day of salvation I helped you.” Behold, now is the acceptable time. Behold, now is the day of salvation.

I trust God all the time

Psalm 31:14-15

But I trust in you, LORD. I said, “You are my God.” My times are in your hand. Deliver me from the hand of my enemies, and from those who persecute me.

Jesus knew His time on earth was finite; He is my role model

John 9:4

I must work the works of him who sent me while it is day. The night is coming, when no one can work.

There is always time, every day, to praise God

Psalm 119:164

Seven times a day, I praise you, because of your righteous ordinances.

I must not wait; the time to act for God is now

Romans 13:11-12

Do this, knowing the time, that it is already time for you to awaken out of sleep, for salvation is now nearer to us than when we first believed. The night is far gone, and the day is near. Let’s therefore throw off the deeds of darkness, and let’s put on the armor of light.

God is not bound by time as we are

2 Peter 3:8-9

But don’t forget this one thing, beloved, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness; but he is patient with us, not wishing that anyone should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Only God knows how and when time will end

Mark 13:20, 32-33

Unless the Lord had shortened the days, no flesh would have been saved; but for the sake of the chosen ones, whom he picked out, he shortened the days. But of that day or that hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Watch, keep alert, and pray; for you don’t know when the time is.

My plans for my time may not be God’s plans

Proverbs 27:1
