Beginning every day in the presence of the One who has saved me is one way to make the most of my walk with God.

Jesus, our perfect example, would routinely get up before dawn and commune with His Father in prayer (see Mark 1:35). Spending time with God first thing in the morning fills us with divine strength and power and primes us to follow where He leads.

God graciously gives me strength to face my day

Isaiah 33:2

LORD, be gracious to us. We have waited for you. Be our strength every morning, our salvation also in the time of trouble.

Jesus is my Morning Star

Revelation 22:16

I, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify these things to you for the assemblies. I am the root and the offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star.

Every morning, God brings His justice to light the way of the righteous

Zephaniah 3:5

The LORD, within her, is righteous. He will do no wrong. Every morning he brings his justice to light. He doesn’t fail, but the unjust know no shame.

God’s love, compassion, and kindness are new every morning

Lamentations 3:22-24

It is because of the LORD’s loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because his compassion doesn’t fail. They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness. “The LORD is my portion,” says my soul. “Therefore I will hope in him.”

No matter what hardships the day holds, God will see me through as He did Jesus

John 12:27-28

“Now my soul is troubled. What shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this time?’ But I came to this time for this cause. Father, glorify your name!” Then a voice came out of the sky, saying, “I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.”

I will thank God and praise Him when I wake

Psalm 57:7-9

My heart is steadfast, God. My heart is steadfast. I will sing, yes, I will sing praises. Wake up, my glory! Wake up, lute and harp! I will wake up the dawn. I will give thanks to you, Lord, among the peoples. I will sing praises to you among the nations.

Psalm 119:147-148

I rise before dawn and cry for help. I put my hope in your words. My eyes stay open through the night watches, that I might meditate on your word.

I will clothe myself with God’s armor as I begin my day

Ephesians 6:11, 13

Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Therefore put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Numbers 6:24-26

The LORD bless you, and keep you. The LORD make his face to shine on you, and be gracious to you. The LORD lift up his face toward you, and give you peace.

I will rejoice in every day God grants me

Psalm 118:23-24

This is the LORD’s doing. It is marvelous in our eyes. This is the day that the LORD has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it!

God wakes me in the morning and has much to teach me

Isaiah 50:4-5

The Lord GOD has given me the tongue of those who are taught, that I may know how to sustain with words him who is weary. He awakens morning by morning, he awakens my ear to hear as those who are taught. The Lord GOD has opened my ear. I was not rebellious. I have not turned back.
